Former Jefferson Police Captian Dennis L. Thomas of Jefferson, was indicted by a federal grand jury Friday on charges of possession of a firearm while being a drug user and possession of a hand grenade. Superior Court judge David Motes is home after undergoing surgery Thursday at an Athens hospital, while judge Joe Booth remains in the intensive care unit at the hospital. Three vehicles were stolen in Jefferson over the last two weeks. A Jefferson teenager said he left his 1999 Toyota Tacoma in the Jefferson High School parking lot while he was at wrestling practice on Dec. 8.
