Colton Standridge remains in critical condition at Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta following a four-wheel accident Monday afternoon. Jefferson BOE keeps same tax rate

The Jefferson City School System will maintain the same tax rate this year as last year at 13.242 mills for operations and 3.3 mills for bond payments. I.W. Davis Detention Center to close Oct. 1

The I.W. Davis Detention Center in Jefferson will close as of Oct. 1. The Georgia Department of Corrections announced Thursday that the center will close as part of a plan to shut down smaller facilities and increase capacity at the larger ones. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing in its investigation into allegations of missing items from the Jefferson Police Department’s evidence room. AN ARCADE WOMAN said her neighbor’s dog attacked her dog, causing extensive injuries. The woman said she released her dog into the front yard of her Oak Hill Drive residence when a neighbor’s dog came into her yard and attacked her dog.
