Stars shine on Bethlehem: Annual festival set for Saturday

The Town of Bethlehem will hold its annual Star Festival on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This festival, now in its sixth year, will feature a variety of vendors, activities and live entertainment. Deputy succumbs to cancer

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of their own. Detention officer Alexander Matlaga passed away Oct. 5 after a long battle with cancer. Scam artist arrested again

A scam artist well known to local authorities has been arrested again. Marsha Lynn Foster, 49, was arrested Oct. 5 by Winder Police on charges of theft by deception. According to authorities, Foster targeted churches and may have victimized other businesses as well in her attempt to fraudulently obtain monetary donations, food and gift cards. ... [Full Story »] 

Winder sex scandal may see settlement

A settlement of at least $50,000 is in the works for a 2009 federal lawsuit filed in connection with a sex scandal at Winder City Hall.
