JHS girls cap six-win season with victory
Camila Hernandez and Carolyn Carreno each scored goals Monday as the Lady Dragon soccer team won its season finale 2-0 over Rabun County and capped a 6-4-1 campaign this spring.
GIRLS’ GOLF
•BATES’ 51 LEADS JCCHS: Jackson County’s Beth Bates shot a 51 Monday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course to lead the Lady Panthers against East Hall. East Hall had just one golfer.
•JACKSON CO. 186, EAST HALL 248: Using junior varsity golfers exclusively, Jackson County dismantled East Hall’s varsity by 62 strokes Monday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.
Colin Hubbard led Jackson County with a 45, followed by Jacob Hogan (46), Austin Mizer (47) and Will Clark and J.T. Hoopaugh, who both added rounds of 48.
“It was great for our JV to be able to play in a varsity match and do well,” coach Warren Standridge said.
BOYS’ SOCCER
•JEFFERSON 2, RABUN CO. 0: The Dragon soccer team warmed up for the region playoffs with a victory over Rabun County at home in its regular season finale. Both Chandler Schlutow and Kevin Perez scored goals.
BOYS GOLF
•JEFFERSON BOYS SECOND AT COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS: Josh Flowers and Blair Cain each shot a 43 Tuesday at Traditions of Braselton Golf Club to lead the Dragons to a second place finish at the county golf championships. Jacob Price added a 45 and Andrew Thompson finished with a 47.
“We have one more match before the region tournament on Monday April 18 … We will have to work hard the next several days in order to prepare ourselves for an opportunity to be one of the two lowest teams at region,” coach Tom Parker said.
Jefferson faces Buford Thursday at Double Oaks in its regular season finale.
