If watching Georgia rally to beat the Volunteers 51-44 wasn’t bad enough Saturday, four Tennessee fans headed home from the game were arrested in Commerce for alcohol violations.
According to the Commerce Police Department, at about 3:44 a.m., an officer working the bypass pulled a vehicle occupied by four males over for failure to maintain a lane. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer quickly noticed that the driver, Sean Roberson, 20, 4921 Tulip Grove Road, Hermitage, TN, had bloodshot and glassy eyes and exhibited slurred speech — all classic signs of excessive alcohol use.
Asked about consumption of alcohol, Roberson told the officer he “had probably three beers,” after which he flunked a field sobriety test. He eventually blew a .082 on the Intoxilyzer 5000 at the Jackson County Jail. He was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), failure to maintain a lane, a tail light violation and underage consumption of alcohol.
His three passengers were all charged with underage consumption of alcohol. Thomas Bailey, 20, 1640 Grand Drive, Apt. 1208, Knoxville, TN, allegedly denied drinking anything, but tested positive for alcohol. Robert William Rasch, 20, 2256 Wickerwood Road, Memphis, TN, who was the owner of the vehicle, admitted consuming alcohol, as did Erik Eugene Farmer, 20, 1004 Garfield Street, Nashville, TN.
