The Apalachee High School boys cross country team competed at the Winder-Barrow High School Invitational Saturday.
Stephen Sassano led the Wildcats with 19:05 followed by Jared Burney (19:24) and Chandler Campbell (19:35). The AHS boys placed fifth among 14 schools.
The varsity girls were paced by Casey Todd (23:31), Analee Bradach (25:32) and Christi Tobiasz (26:07) at the WBHS event.
The AHS junior varsity boys cross country team earned a trophy as they took third place. Merit Fontinel (20:14), Brandon Crocker (20:33) and Anthony Hawkins (20:51) helped lead the JV Wildcats.
Apalachee’s varsity boys are scheduled to run at the Buford Invitational Wednesday (today). All teams will compete at the Bob Roller Invitational at East Jackson Thursday.
AHS is on fall break this week but coach Alex Holmes wanted to keep the cross country runners in competition.
