Comer Elementary hosted a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for its renovations and additions Sunday, Nov. 4.
Madison County School Board members, Comer Elementary faculty and staff, parents and students, along with Comer city officials, Charles Black Construction officials and others attended the ceremony, which was followed by a tour of the new library, computer lab and classrooms. Comer Elementary Principal Dr. Christine Register welcomed the crowd, and spoke of how SPLOST funds and funds from the Gholston family trust have been used to improve the school. She said future plans include a walking track, outdoor classrooms and a science lab. She pointed out that Comer Elementary is a State of Georgia Reward School, meaning that is in the top five percent of schools in the state in performance over the last three years.
Superintendent Dr. Allen McCannon told audience members that he is proud of the school’s renovations as well as other renovations and additions going on in the school system. “The students here today will come through some very nice facilities on their way to graduation,” he said.
