Two homes in Jackson County were heavily damaged by fire in the past week.
On November 12, the Nicholson, Commerce and Jackson County Correctional Institute fire departments responded to 9344 Hwy. 334, Nicholson, on a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, they found a single-family residence with heavy smoke and fire showing from the structure.
The residents were home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported and the structure was listed as heavily damaged. The American Red Cross was notified for family assistance.
The fire was reportedly caused by a cooking/grease fire.
SECOND FIRE
On November 16, the Commerce, Maysville and the Jackson County Correctional fire departments responded to 331 Northview Drive, Commerce, on a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, they found a two-story single family residence with heavy smoke showing.
The residents were not home at the time of the fire and the cause of the incident is currently under investigation by the Commerce Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office. No injuries were reported and the house is listed as heavily damaged. The American Red Cross was requested for assistance for the family.
