FLOWERY BRANCH - Alice Baird Peterson, 89, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012, at Willowwood Nursing Center.
She was born August 3, 1923, the daughter of the late Thomas Smith-Thompson Baird and Jesse Kerr Baird in Edinburgh, Scotland. She moved to Lachine, Quebec, Canada in 1926. Upon marrying Harry Irving Peterson in 1950, she moved to Wolcott, Conn., and later Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. in 1957. After 46 years in Florida, she moved to Flowery Branch in 2003. She was retired from Bank of America in Florida, where she was a switchboard operator. Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by brothers, Alexander Stanley Baird and Thomas Smith Baird.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Harry "Bud" Peterson, Flowery Branch; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Susan Peterson, Atlanta, and James and Kate Peterson, Hicksville, N.Y.; and granddaughters, Helen Peterson and Kate Peterson, both of Charleston, S.C.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 2, at the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with the Rev. George Ivey, III, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army - Georgia Division, 1000 Center Place, Norcross, GA 30093.
