WINSTON - Max Ryland Hill, 74, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012.
He was born February 21, 1938, in Commerce, the son of the late Charlie Y. and Beulah Mae Watson Hill.
He served in the United States Air Force for four years as an Airman 1st Class and one year in Korea, receiving the good conduct and outstanding unit award. Mr. Hill served as the assistant Chaplain for the Douglas County Jail and was a Deacon at Cowan Mill Baptist Church. He retired from the American Freight Systems after many years. He was preceded in death by siblings, Charles Emory Hill, Dessie Mae Payne, and Harrison W. Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Johnson Hill, Winston; daughters and son-in-law, Christina Lynn and Donald Turner, Pamela Jeanette Hill; sister, Geneva Vernelle Hill, Douglasville; two grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Turner and Erin Jeanette Turner, both of Winston; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 3, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with the Revs. Ikey Watson and Tom Kaplan officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Honorary Escort will be provided by Douglas County Sheriff's Department.
