The Winder City Council’s final meeting of 2012 is tonight at 6 in the Winder Community Center. The agenda is extensive. It includes annexation approvals to extend the city's boundaries to Exchange Boulevard just north of Highway 316 as well as a six-month contract extension for consultant Mike Rice, who is assisting in the annexation initiative.
Two of the more substantive items on the agenda are major overhauls of city regulations for solid waste services and home occupation licensing. Both items are “first readings” of the revised Solid Waste Ordinance and the amendments to the Home Occupation Regulations. "Second readings" are required next month, unless the second reading is waived in order to take action tonight. The solid waste regulations affect all residential garbage customers within the city limits, and the home-occupation regulations affect operators of home occupations.
