The Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter (MOAS) is reaching out to the residents of Madison and Oglethorpe counties in an effort to stop pet overpopulation.
“The shelter has already taken in over 2,500 animals and we only accept surrenders from residents of these two counties,” shelter officials said. “During the month of January, we are offering an ‘Any size K9 Neuter’ for $45 and an ‘Any size K9 Spay’ for $55. Anyone participating in this great offer will also be eligible for a reduced $5 rabies vaccine and free nail trimming.”
All animals must have proof of a current rabies vaccination, or they will need one at the time of surgery.
MOAS offers many resources and educational opportunities to help residents maintain their treasured bond with their animal companions.
“If you’ve exhausted these resources and feel that you have no other alternative, let’s work together to ensure the best possible solution for you and your pet,” shelter officials said. “We understand that there are sometimes circumstances that may prevent you from being able to keep your animal and we are here to help. When you bring your animal into our shelter for surrender, you will need to provide a current drivers license with a Madison or Oglethorpe County address and your pet’s medical records. Please consider a reasonable monetary donation to help us provide for your pet.”
The shelter also offers feral cat trap rentals at just $5 per week. For more information on how MOAS can help or to schedule an appointment for surgery, call 706-795-2868.
Coming this February, the shelter will host a “Beat the Heat” feline spay and neuter promotion. MOAS will offer feline male neuters for just $22 and feline spays for $40. All cat owners must provide proof of a current rabies vaccine or will need to have one on the day of surgery for an addition $10.
“Slots will fill up quickly, so call and save your spot today,” officials said. “Please prevent unwanted litters, spay and neuter your critters.”
