The Jackson County Board of Education made three major hiring decisions Thursday night, including naming a new principal for East Jackson Comprehensive High School. Tim Stowers, the former head football coach at Georgia Southern University and University of Rhode Island, will take the principal’s position starting Feb. 1. A graduate of Auburn University where he played football, Stowers has also worked in sales and is currently the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Central Connecticut State University.
The BOE also named Todd Nickelsen as principal of South Jackson Elementary School starting July 1. Nickelsen is currently the coordinator at the Oconee River Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center.
The board also created the position of coordinator of safety, security and activities for the school system and named Bill Stewart to the position starting Feb. 1.
