DANIELSVILLE – Larry McGinnis, 63, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, following a long battle with small cell lung cancer.
He was the son of Garnett and Nellie McGinnis. He was retired after 53 years from Davis Sign Company, was an active member of the Comer Lions Club where he served as the assistant fair chairman, was a member of the Madison County FFA alumni where he was known as the official hamburger cooker. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and the Georgia Hereford Association.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Frances McGinnis; daughter, Angie McGinnis; son, Richard McGinnis; sister, Frances (Billy) Kidd; brother, Robert (Cleta) McGinnis, and G.H. McGinnis; brothers-in-law, Marvin and Doug Gordon; papa’s baby dog, Seneca; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, at 3 p.m., at the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. Dayton Logan, Joe Wells and Tim Peek officiating. Burial will be at the Jones Chapel United Methodist church Cemetery in Danielsville. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ila Volunteer Fire Department and the Comer Lions Club. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, January 11, from 6 to 9 p.m.
