Mark Barth has been pointing to the second half of the 2012-2013 basketball season as a time when his team will make its move.
The Bethlehem Christian Academy Knights appeared to be on the right track entering this week as they had posted three consecutive wins. Victories against Killian Hill, Brandon Hall and Shiloh Christian have helped BCA build some momentum with several key GISA Region 1-A games upcoming.
“For us, it’s about getting to state and then doing something once we are there,” Barth said recently. “We are starting to show some signs that we are going in the right direction. The players need to realize they have to keep working to get better in all aspects of our game, however.”
The Knights pulled their overall record to .500 with a 48-20 win Friday at Shiloh Christian in Monticello.
Chance Spratlin led the Knights with 22 points.
Friday’s win followed a 61-19 defeat of Brandon Hall Thursday at home. Spratlin led the team once again with 20 points while Niko Mailloux added 18. Chandler Garmon finished with nine points off the bench.
“We beat a team the way we should have beaten them,” Barth said. “It was nice to see us play well.”
Two days earlier BCA recorded a 48-38 win against Killian Hill on the road. Mailloux finished with 18 points while Travis Burchfield finished with 12.
“This was a good, non-region win,” Barth said. “We played well last week. Hopefully, that will continue.”
The Region 1-A journey will continue Friday for BCA as the Knights venture to Siloam to face the Nathanael Greene Patriots.
