School calendar set at 170 days

With one dissenting vote, the Barrow County Board of Education voted Tuesday night to set next year’s school calendar at 170 days. The approved calendar shows that the upcoming school year will begin Wednesday, Aug. 7, and end Thursday, May 15. Students will get four long breaks during the school year: from Oct. 14-18 for Fall Break; from Nov. 25-29 for Thanksgiving Break; from Dec. 23-Jan. 6, 2014 for Winter Break; and from April 14-18 for Spring Break.
