Detectives with the Winder Police Department, Rikki Banks and Gregg Teatino, were conducting a follow-up investigation on Feb. 14 regarding information on several burglaries reported in recent weeks.
The investigation led them to the home of Zenobia Griffin of Winder. As the detectives spoke with Griffin, they observed a television in her home believed stolen. Leaving her home and obtaining a search warrant, they returned to execute the warrant and recovered multiple flat panel televisions as well as many other electronics that had been reported stolen from area burglaries. The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office assisted Winder Police Department with the execution of the search warrant.
Detectives arrested Griffin, 20, and Dacquiri Huff, also 20, in connection with approximately seven burglaries as well as several attempted burglaries. A 16-year-old juvenile was also charged. Winder Police are working with the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office regarding information that these suspects may have been involved in additional crimes of theft outside Winder’s jurisdiction.
Griffin and Huff have been charged with multiple counts of burglary, criminal attempt to commit burglary, felony and misdemeanor theft by taking, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, cruelty to children, fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance and false report of a crime. The women may be facing additional charges as the investigation continues.
