Paul Q. "Pike" Garrison, 81, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013.
He was born in Jackson County, June 14, 1931, the son of Ralph and Rosalou Garrison. He spent his youth on the family farm raising several different crops. He attended and graduated from Jefferson High School then joined the United States Navy in August, 1950 with his older brother and cousin. While stationed in San Diego, he met the love of his life, Peggy Darlene Hamm at the duck pond at the San Diego Zoo. He pointed her out to a sailor friend and told him "I'm going to marry that girl" before even meeting her. They were married two years later on March 1, 1952.
One of Paul's greatest pleasures, besides his grandkids, was being a part of the Chevron USA family. He started in the oilfields as a roustabout, a surveyor in La Habra, Calif. then to the Drilling Department in Ventura, Calif., where he designed directional plans for offshore oil wells. He also enjoyed being a member of the Masonic Lodge of Huntington Beach, Calif. and a member of Oconee Baptist Church at Dry Pond in Jackson County, where he and his brothers dedicated their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ when they were about eight years old. His other pleasures included gardening, reading and visiting with his loving friends on Gemini Ave. in Camarillo, Calif. whom he considered family.
Paul entered the Kingdom of our Lord to be in the arms of Peggy once again.
He left behind a daughter, Diane Kay Feddersohn (Chris), Jenner, Calif.; son. Steven Ralph Garrison (Brenda), Orcutt, Calif.; grandson, Joshua Martin Garrison (Karyn), Las Cruces, N.M.; granddaughter, Jaclyn Nichole Garrison, Orcutt, Calif.; brother, Bobby J. "Peewee" Garrison (Pat), Maysville; brother-in-law, Gene Hamm (Shirley), Westminster, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and many great friends.
Preceding Paul in death were his wife, Peggy Darlene Garrison; older brother, Dr. J. Lloyd Garrison (Christine), Vidalia; and youngest brother, Johnny H. Garrison (Jean), Jefferson.
A graveside of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park.
Conejo Mountain Memorial Park Funeral Home, Camarillo, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
