Growth has been the buzzword for Bethlehem Christian Academy.
The growth has been in student enrollment as well as on-campus facilities. A new gymnasium and football stadium are currently under construction and the plan is to have both complete after the 2013-2014 school year begins.
“The steel is going up on the gym,” said BCA athletic director Mark Barth. “You can see the progress now. The rain has hampered them a little in recent weeks. We hope to be in the new gym by the early portion of the new season.”
Additional high school classroom space will also be available as the relatively new school continues to grow.
With football season rapidly approaching, it will be somewhat of a race against the clock to have the new facility complete. The plan is to play at least the late home contests in the new stadium.
Barth said the rising seniors want to have senior night and homecoming on campus. The Knights have been using Legion Field in Monroe as its home stadium for football games. BCA will continue to play home games in 2014 in Monroe, at least the early portion of the schedule.
“If everything goes well, we will get the sod down late this summer,” Barth said. “We have six home games this fall so hopefully we can play the second half of the home schedule at our campus.”
The athletic director said bleachers will be installed for games this fall, even if they are temporary ones.
“We have the sod and goal posts lined up and ready to be installed,” Barth said. “Our senior class really wants to be able to enjoy our football stadium and new gym before they graduate.”
