In addition to making four arrests this past week for forgery, the Commerce Police Department investigated two other incidents of forgery during the past week.
A clerk at Family Dollar Store, B. Wilson Road, said a white male tried to buy a can of Fix-A-Flat with a suspicious $20 bill.
The 19-year-old white female noticed that there was no metallic strip on the bill, so she tested it with the store’s “money pen,” and determined it was fake.
The report said the suspect told her he might have received it at a poker game.
He left the store, but she kept the bill for police.
In the other incident, Quality Foods, Maysville Road, personnel reported that a man cashed a payroll check in the amount of $445.90 written on a “Troy Construction LLC” account.
The report noted that there is surveillance footage of the transaction, and the store provided a name and address for the suspect.
