JEFFERSON - Frances S. Mathis, 77, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013.
She was born in Madison, Georgia, the daughter of the late Roy and Desi Parr Stephens. She was retired from Buhler Quality Yarns Company in Jefferson after 25 years of service, where she was a spinner. She was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church. Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Henry Mathis; sons, Timothy Mathis and Jerry Mathis; and a brother, Jack Stephens.
Survivors include children, Jane Pace, Jefferson, Barbara Baxter, Nicholson, Ann Wise, Jefferson, Judy Childs, Jefferson, Kelley Parr, Maysville, Donna Dalton, Jefferson, Bobby Brown, Hull, and Michael Brown, Winder; brothers and sisters, Grace Healey, Frank Stephens, Leila Folds, Inez Self, Sara Doster, Jimmy Stephens, Jane Lassiter, Ruby Stewart, and Gene Stephens; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Friday July 5 in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Palmer Pace officiating. Interment was at Jackson Memorial Park with Alex Chambers, Keith Parr, Kegan Rice, Robert Stephens, Justin Mathis and Brandon Davis honored as pallbearers.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.
