A Canadian real estate company with substantial area holdings is asking the Commerce Planning Commission for zoning changes on more than 400 acres it plans to develop in the area of Homer Road, Hospital Road and the U.S. 441 bypass.
The Commerce Planning Commission will hear the request next Monday night at 7:00 in the Peach Room of the Commerce Civic Center.
The Walton group wants the changes on the 266.2-acre tract in the triangle where Homer Road and U.S. 441 meet near the north end of Hospital Road; and for 143.73 acres on the opposite (west) side of Homer Road at Hospital Road for a mixed-use development combining commercial, single-family residential and multifamily housing.
The same issue was on the September agenda and withdrawn pending a review of the project by the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission. It was resubmitted for the October planning meeting.
