The cause of a Tuesday morning fire in an abandoned house is under investigation by both the Fire Investigation Unit of Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.
Lt. Scott Dakin, public information officer for the fire department, said in a press release that Barrow firefighters responded to 1035 Bowman Way just after 7 a.m.
They brought the blaze quickly under control, but the house was heavily damaged by the flames and smoke.
It was the third blaze reported by fire officials in the past six days.
A portable heater sparked a Jan. 29 blaze at a home on Summit Ridge Drive in Auburn.
Attic insulation placed too close to chimney pipes caused a fire Monday at a house on Meadow Trace Drive.
