One person was killed and two others were injured Monday morning in a one-vehicle accident in the northbound lane of the U.S. 441 bypass of Commerce.
Names of the dead man and the injured were not immediately available.
A Ford pickup truck owned by Outdoor Equipment Sales & Service was pulling a flat-bed trailer with a load of mulch northbound between Hwy. 98 and Hwy. 326 when the vehicle apparently went out of control, went off the right side of the roadway and overturned at about 9:30 a.m. on the right shoulder of the road.
A gas can, shovels and other tools were scattered about the accident scene. EMS, rescue, the Commerce Police Department, Commerce Fire Department and Georgia State Patrol responded to the accident. The person who died appeared to have been partially ejected from the vehicle. The two injured men sat on the road bank nearby to be attended by paramedics.
The Georgia State Patrol will handle the investigation.
