Marty Clark, Chairman of the Agricultural Facility Committee spoke at the March 9th meeting of the Jefferson Woman’s Club.
The new Jackson County Multiuse Agricultural Facility is located on County Farm Road. The 38,000 square foot facility is owned and operated by the Jackson County Government. Clark told the club, “the outside of the facility is finished but they are still working on the inside, and there are already six or seven events lined up.” Clark went on to explain how the county already owned the property, sold some land in Braselton, and has received $825,000 in donations and private grants to help pay for the facility.
Clark spoke of how the Agricultural Facility has been received well and the endless number of events for which the facility can be used. The Agricultural Facility will have a multipurpose area, show arena with removal bleachers, conference area, kitchen/concession, offices and storage areas. Primary use will be for preparing animals to be shown in livestock shows (Jackson County has over 2,000 students in 4-H and FFA). Other uses of the facility can be meetings, performances, banquets, parties, dances, small concerts, tradeshows, etc. Clark went on to say that maybe we could even bring back the county fair.
Thirty-two members and one guest attended the luncheon meeting which was held at the Jefferson Civic Center and catered by The Master’s Table, Winder.
