DRIVER INJURED IN WRECK

A truck driver was critically injured in a wreck on April 28 that shut down traffic on Hwy. 198 near Hwy. 63 in Homer. Banks County Fire/EMS responded to a reported vehicle accident with entrapment. Upon arrival, they found a tractor trailer overturned with the driver trapped inside the vehicle. The vehicle had multiple fluid leaks which were secured by fire personnel. The contents of the tank car/trailer was sludge being transported from a nearby processing plant. No leakage from the trailer was noted. The driver was extricated from the vehicle by fire personnel and transported in critical condition to Greenville Memorial Hospital in by EMS. Hwy. 198 between Hwy. 63 and Damascus Rd was temporarily closed due to the accident clean-up.
