TRACTOR TRAILER FIRE CLOSES INTERSTATE FOR ONE HOUR

A tractor trailer fire was reported on Dec. 31 on I-85. Banks County Fire/EMS responded to Interstate 85 at the 151 Mile marker northbound on a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival, they found a tractor trailer with 50 percent involvement to the tractor and the trailer. The fire started around the rear brake area of the tractor trailer. The fire was quickly extinguished with heavy damage to the unit. The interstate was closed for approximately one hour due to the hazardous condition. No injuries were reported.
