WOMAN ESCAPES BURNING HOME

A woman escaped uninjured from this residential fire on Feb. 15 in Alto. The Banks County Fire/EMS and Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute fire departments, assisted by Mutual Aid with Habersham Fire and Emergency Services. responded to 333 McDaniel Street, Alto, on a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, units found a single-family residence fully involved with fire. A defensive attack was made on the structure and the fire was contained to the original fire building. The residence was home at the time of the fire and was awakened by the smoke. She escaped without injuries and no working smoke detectors were in place. No other injuries were reported. The home is listed as a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Banks County Fire Department.
