‘Dick’ Mingus

Richard Glenn “Dick” Mingus, 84, of Winder, died Monday, May 5, 2008.

A native of Marcellus, Mich., he was the son of the late Maynard and Ivah Davis Mingus. He was a retiree of Rohr Aircraft Industries, where he served as a supervisor. He was a member of the Winder First United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Ira A. Beck #503 Free & Accepted Masons in Battle Creek, Mich. Mr. Mingus was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy, during World War II, aboard the Battleship U.S.S. Pennsylvania in the Pacific Theater and was a former V.F.W. member.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Mingus, Winder; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Wendy Mingus, Winder; daughter and son-in-law, Judith Lynn and Randall Sims, Winder; brother-in-law, Roger E. Colvin, Marshall, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Rary officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Carter Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
