Kickball tournament benefits local woman battling cancer

Barrow County Kick Squad, a kickball league for women 18 years old and up in Barrow County, held a benefit tournament Oct. 25 at Hillman-Rainwater Park in Statham to help a local woman who has been battling cancer for four years and has been out of work since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March. Organized by the league and D-n-Z Printing of Statham, the “Kickin’ for a Queen(A)” tournament consisted of six teams (with Barnes INC. defeating DaFam 2-1 in the championship game) and raised $1,495 for SeQueena Bolt. Bolt was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, and some of the cancer cells have spread to her bones. She is currently undergoing another round of chemotherapy treatment and unable to return to work. Bolt, a 1999 graduate of Winder-Barrow High School, is a wife, mother of four and a grandmother. She is the daughter of June Stillwell and Lauren Pope.
