The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has posted on its website a photograph of a model of the face of the man found dead Nov. 16 off Atlanta Highway in Barrow County.
The likeness is based on the bones and other remains. It is of a Hispanic man who appears to be young, though information posted with the photograph states the victim could have been born anytime between 1968 and 1988.
The posting also confirms for the first time that the body was badly burned.
Jim Fullington, special agent in charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation District 11 office in Athens said in a recent interview that a forensic anthropologist’s study of the bones narrowed down the time of death to "two to four days" before the body was found. The body was discovered by two people walking through woods behind a vacant house at 998 Atlanta Hwy.
Anyone who believes they recognize the person in the GBI photograph is asked to call the agency's Athens office at 706-542-7901.
