Farm Bureau teacher of year

Diana Cole, center with flowers, from Statham Elementary School has been announced as the 2019 Georgia Farm Bureau Teacher of the Year. With Cole are, from left, Lauren Goble, Josh McMillan, Vanessa Nabors, Boyd McLocklin, Staci Waters and Salethia James, principal of Statham Elementary. Cole was selected as the first Georgia Radish Teacher of the Year in 2018. Cole and her husband, Bill, built 12 raised garden beds for their school. She also organizes an annual Farm Week at Statham Elementary. The students, teachers, and parents attend a farm day with more than 20 stations – everything from tractor rides, goats, cows, pigs, milking cow station, barn yard toss to planting seeds. The week also includes agriculture-related art and garden day.
