PHOTOS: CFIT hosts art gallery

The Center for Innovative Teaching had a special art gallery presentation, featuring student-created visual art inspired by various South American artists. The gallery is a product of 45 sixth grade student artists of Laura Payne’s language arts and social studies students, whose parents were presented with the works for the first time Feb 12. The sixth-graders were assigned a Latin American project that included researching and presenting an assigned country’s language, religion, government, environmental issues and geography. Students also were required to incorporate a skit that covered one of the assigned topics, learning and choreographing a traditional dance from the assigned country and researching a famous artist from the country and recreating a piece of his or her work.
