Apalachee’s Baldwin honored at Butler’s Senior Night

Former Apalachee High School basketball standout and Butler University shooting guard Kamar Baldwin was honored Wednesday, March 4, during Senior Night festivities in Indianapolis. Baldwin, a four-year starter, is having a stellar senior season, averaging 16.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game in 31 outings. He scored 12 points in the 77-55 Senior Night win over St. John’s and then poured in a career high 36 points and hit the game-winning 3-pointer in a 72-71 win at Xavier on Saturday, March 7. Baldwin is one of five finalists this season for the Jerry West Award, which honors the nation’s top shooting guard. The winner will be announced April 10 at the College Basketball Awards in Los Angeles. Baldwin and the Bulldoggs (22-9) will face Providence at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the first round of the Big East Tournament. The game will be televised on FS1. ESPN currently projects Butler to be a No. 5 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, which begins next week.
