PHOTO: WBHS baseball seniors recognized

The Winder-Barrow High School baseball team recently recognized its class of 2020 graduating seniors with a small senior day ceremony with (from left) CJ Harrison, Jhaydon Sullivan, Trevor Maddox and Blake Friend in attendance. Hunter Marsh (a Chattanooga Valley Community College signee) and Reid Shope were not in attendance. A collegiate signing ceremony was also held for Harrison (Young Harris University), Maddox (Augusta University) and Friend (East Georgia State College). Sullivan has signed to play football at Albany State University. Harrison had 28 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched in the 2020 season that was shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic. He also had 11 hits, including a home run and two doubles, and eight RBIs in 15 games. Sullivan finished with 12 hits, including a pair of doubles and a triple, and scored eight runs, drew six walks and had a pair of stolen bases. Maddox hit .368 with 14 hits, 14 walks, two doubles, eight stolen bases and 11 runs scored. Friend batted .383 with 23 hits, 10 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He also worked 24 innings on the mound, striking out 24 batters and recording a pair of wins and a save.
