PHOTOS: Bethlehem Christian athletes sign with colleges

Bethlehem Christian Academy held a signing ceremony at the school Monday, May 10, for four senior athletes who will be taking their talents to the collegiate level. From left, Autumn Shepherd (track and field at Truett McConnell University of the NAIA), Mason Massengale (basketball at Bridgewater State University, an NCAA Division III program in Massachusetts), Abby Collins (cheerleading at Brenau University of the NAIA) and Chad Norwood (football at Division III Berry College) are pictured with family members and signing their letters of intent. Norwood, a two-way starter for the BCA football team, will be used as an outside linebacker at Berry. He had 22 tackles, an interception and a blocked punt last fall, missing a few games due to injury. On offense, he led the Knights in rushing with 435 yards. Massengale averaged 16.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game and was the leading offensive player for the Knights’ basketball team this winter. Shepherd placed in the top eight of three events — triple jump, 300-meter hurdles and 100-meter hurdles — at the GISA Class AAA state meet in Albany recently. Collins was a key leader for the Knights’ cheerleading team and will join a Brenau program that finished third at nationals this past season.
