Three AHS seniors sign with college teams

The Apalachee High School softball team held a college signing ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 11, for its three seniors that helped the Wildcats have a historic season this fall with a 28-8 record and GHSA Class 5A Final Four appearance in Columbus. Pitcher Emily Hodnett signed with Georgia State, third baseman Destiny Sexton signed with Andrew College and center fielder Kensley Kraus signed with Union College. Hodnett, a four-year starter, went 20-6 in the circle with a 1.26 ERA, 0.798 WHIP and 275 strikeouts in 155 1/3 innings pitched. She also hit .379 at the plate with a .458 on-base percentage, 1.002 OPS, three homers and 29 RBIs. Sexton hit .260 with a .321 OBP, a pair of homers and 13 RBIs, and she played perfect defense at the hot corner with a 1.000 fielding percentage. Kraus was a .382 hitter with a .415 OBP and .909 OPS, and she was second on the team in stolen bases with 17 in 18 attempts.
