The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce announced Mark VanTassel as Vice President of Finance and Administration. A longtime Gainesville resident, VanTassel brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in accounting and business management, strengthened by a love of the Gainesville-Hall County community.

Most recently, Mark devoted 24 years to Community Newspapers Inc. (CNI) - parent company to a collection of local newspapers across the Southeast. VanTassel started with CNI as an accountant and worked his way up to regional business manager, a title he held for 15 years. Headquartered at The Northeast Georgian in Cornelia, Georgia, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of eight newspapers across the region, a printing press facility and numerous magazine publications.

VanTassel was raised in Florida and has an accounting degree from the University of Central Florida. After passing the Certified Public Accountant exam, he relocated to Northeast Georgia and became involved in the community serving as a member of the Rotary Club of Habersham County and Habersham County United Way Board of Directors.

VanTassel has two children - Lillian (19), a freelance sports photographer, and Brady (17), a senior at Gainesville High School. He is a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and enjoys traveling, wildlife and sports photography.
