Two school resource officers (SROs) who work for Gwinnett County Public Schools—Rhonda Wood and Zakia Williams—have been nominated for the Axon Rise Officer Award. The award honors officers who have saved a life or shown exemplary performance in the field. Wood and Williams were nominated for the honor after each officer, in separate incidents, helped save the life of an infant.

Finalists for the award will be selected based on online voting. Voting ends on September 17, 2021. A panel of judges will review the top 10 finalists in each category and then select three winners.
