The Hall County/Gainesville HEAT unit recently swept the traffic awards at the Governor's Office of Highway Safety Northeast Traffic Enforcement Network awards banquet.

Hall County Sheriff's Office deputy Jeremy Cooksey took the speed awareness award, while deputy John Thompson received the impaired driving awareness award. A Gainesville officer, Larry Sanford, was also awarded with the occupant safety awareness award.

The Hall County/Gainesville HEAT unit is supported by the GOHS through grant funding. The unit is one of several HEAT teams that patrol roadways across the state.
