Gwinnett County schools were recognized as operational schools for their implementation of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) including the following schools in the Mill Creek Cluster:

  • Duncan Creek Elementary School.
  • Harmony Elementary School.
  • Jones Middle School.
  • Mill Creek High School.

"PBIS guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based behavioral practices for improving behavior outcomes for all students. It encourages positive behaviors with recognition for those students who exhibited appropriate school conduct," according to a news release.

The Georgia Department of Education annually recognizes schools and programs that have "created and maintained a positive school climate through the implementation of PBIS."

"PBIS supports schools, districts and states to build systems capacity for implementing a multi-tiered approach to social, emotional and behavior support. PBIS provides an operational framework for achieving these outcomes. More than 1,200 Georgia schools and 27,000 nationwide have been trained in PBIS," according to a Gwinnett schools news release.
