Winder-Barrow Community Theatre recently received a check for $500 from Hill's Ace Hardware, which has been a sponsor for the theatre group for several years. Alex Hill, right, and a group of employees presented the check to Tery Overbey, left, who is the president of Winder-Barrow Community Theatre. Theatre sponsors help to defray the costs of presenting live theatre in Barrow County, and WBCT is “thrilled to have these sponsors,” leaders said. For more information about WBCT and upcoming shows and events, go to www.winderbarrowtheatre.org.

Cub Scout Pack 235 along with Scouts BSA Troops 235 and 5235, both of whom are chartered by the Church at War Hill South Campus, recently buried a time capsule in recognition of BSA's 110th anniversary. They will reunite in 10 years to open the time capsule, which includes questionnaires about the scouts and leaders, a copy of the Barrow News Journal, and mementos from the scouting year.
