CEO of Empower College and Career Center speaks at Rotary Club

John Uesseler, center, CEO of the Jackson County Empower College and Career Academy, recently spoke at a Jefferson Rotary Club meeting. Uesseler says the center in Jefferson will open in August 2021. The State of Georgia provided a $3 million grant to renovate the current Jackson County Comprehensive High School on the Winder Highway, he told Rotarians. Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) will also be needed to assist with the massive project, he said. In addition, donations are being sought from private sources. The facility will give students a new “way to think about education,” he added. They will receive “hands-on” experience at the center. A book has been donated to the Jefferson Public Library in his honor. Club president Jon Howell, left, presents the book to Uesseler. Chad Bingham, right, assistant governor of Rotary District 6910, looks on during the presentation.
