Willie Nell Garrett was surprised on Saturday, Sept. 21, when the concession stand at Hurricane Shoals Park was dedicated in her honor. Since the first Art in the Park, Garrett has volunteered her time every year to serve others at the concession stand. The Jackson County Parks and Recreation, the Tumbling Waters Society, Georgia Extension Service, former 4-H students and the citizens of Jackson County congratulate Garrett. Marti Rubio burned Garrett’s name into the plaque. Andy Garrison, Tumbling Waters Society chairman, Ricky Sanders, head of Jackson County Recreation Department and Tom Crow, chairman of board of commissioners, spoke during the dedication.
