Jimmy Mock, president of the Jefferson Lions Club, introduced Judge Benjamin Green, who recently spoke at a meeting of the Lions Club. Judge Green talked about his life and how he became a lawyer.

He was born in Germany, very poor, and now lives in Jefferson. With the support of his two daughters and wife, he has become a successful criminal defense and probate judge. Before coming to this area, he was in the military and served as a Black Hawk Helicopter Pilot. He was sworn in June 1, 2019, and appointed to the Jackson County Government. He handles criminal and civil litigation wills and trusts. He handles small claims that are less than 15K.

He said that sometimes he works early in the mornings, 2 a.m. or 3 a.m., to create search warrants; and said that there were 3,300 current warrants done this past year, and in 2015 there were only 1,000. Crime has tripled in Jackson County, he stated. In 2018, 2,100 cases were filed and 327 resolved in trial; it takes approximately 90 minutes per trial.

President Jimmy Mock thanked him for coming to speak to the club.
