McELROY is Officer of the Year

At the American Legion Post 56 meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 18, Jefferson City Police Officer Sergeant Ruth McElory was honored as the American Legion Post 56 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. The award was based on the recommendation of Jefferson Chief of Police Joe Wirthman. Chief Wirthman stated that Sergeant McElory is one of the most dedicated officers in the department and that she is a responsible and devoted Police Officer who goes about her job in a professional manner every day. Post 56 commander Gene Bennett said that the Legion award is an annual award that is presented to law enforcement officers in Jackson County communities. Sergeant McElory was presented with a Legion certificate and a monetary gift.
