Is Walmart about to move toward putting a store in Jefferson?

Action Tuesday night by the city’s planning board seems to indicate that some action may soon be forthcoming.

The Jefferson-Talmo Planning Commission approved a development-related map Tuesday night for the Hwy. 129 corridor along the Damon Gause Bypass. Among other frontage roads in the plan are several related to the site proposed in 2012 for Walmart at the intersection of Old Pendergrass Road and the bypass.

Although the Jefferson officials have been talking about frontage roads and protective greenways for some time, no map had been done until recently. Some observers believe the map is being done now because Walmart is again showing active interest in developing the property.
