Push-In ceremony held for new fire engine

On Sunday, September 11, the Commerce Fire Department held a “Push-In Ceremony" for its newest fire engine (Engine 2). The ceremony dates back to the days of horse-drawn equipment when members had to push the equipment into the bay after unhitching from the horses. The new truck will serve the East Jackson Fire District from Station 2. The truck has a 1,500 gallons-per-minute-pump and carries 1,000 gallons of water. Assisting with the push in were the East Jackson Fire District board members, Commerce City Council members and members of the fire department. The truck was purchased with funds from the East Jackson Fire District Fire Tax (50%) and SPLOST (50%).
