A local man is dead after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle on Hwy. 441 in Commerce Wednesday night, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The victim, Michael Clifton Manley, 57, of Commerce, was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident Wednesday night, May 13, which occurred on Hwy 441 South at Allen Road in Commerce.

According to GSP Corporal CE Parker, Athens, Manley was riding a bicycle and failed to yield when pedaling into the roadway, entering the path of a Honda Accord.

The driver of the vehicle is not responsible for the accident and will not be charged, said Parker. The accident happened just after 7 p.m.

Commerce Fire/Rescue and Jackson County EMS responded.
