The Jackson County School System’s new superintendent will earn $157,500 a year, according to his contract approved by the board of education. John Green was named the district’s next superintendent by the BOE in May. He officially starts working for the school system on July 1.

Green is replacing Shannon Adams, who is retiring because of health reasons. Adams earned $163,200 during the 2011 fiscal year — the latest records available on the state’s audit website. He was also paid almost $1,600 for travel expenses.
